Sheryl is an attorney in private practice, having only recently opened her own law firm in Roswell, NM.  She attended the University of Northern Colorado where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.  After graduation, she continued on to Colorado State University where she began a Master’s Degree in University Administration, before deciding to pursue her law degree at the University of New Mexico School of Law.

Sheryl practices primarily in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Probate, General Civil Litigation and Employment Defense.  As a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1994, Sheryl began her legal career by returning to her hometown of Roswell, NM where she served as the judicial law clerk for seven Judges in the Fifth Judicial District of Chaves, Eddy and Lea Counties.  During law school, Sheryl also clerked for the Honorable Albert “Pat” Murdoch and the Honorable Anne Kass, both of the Second Judicial District.

After completing her clerkship, Sheryl began as an associate with Cusack, Jaramillo and Associates, PC, where she practiced primarily the area of Family Law.  After seven years, Sheryl began with the firm of Hennighausen & Olsen, LLP where she continued practicing Family Law, along with Water Law and Employment Defense.

Sheryl has been involved in a variety of community, legal and cultural organizations including serving as a Board Member for the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association, a member of the Chaves County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association, President Elect of the Pecos Valley Rotary Club, past Vice Chair of Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board of Directors, past board member of the Family Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar, past president of the Chaves County Teen Court Program and the Chaves County Pro Se Divorce Clinic.

Sheryl continues to teach Legal Research and Writing at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell, where she has served as an adjunct instructor for the past five years.  She has two children and enjoys finding new ways to manage the practice of law while raising two very active children.
